Kathryn and her husband Dom did the full 8 hour hypnobirthing course with me in February. She had her little girl this week and messaged me to let me know she’d been born at the PRUH in the midwife led unit. Posted with her permission:
I had her in the oasis centre in the pool. They followed my birth plan to the tee and it was beautiful. Dim lights, beautiful music and hypnobirthing tracks. The part you will love... she half came out in the sack so the midwife showed me in a mirror! The the sack burst and out she came.
The breathing techniques worked so well in labour, I also did visualisations of the beach and the waves and used a tens machine. I managed to get to 5cm at home. They really took my birth plan seriously, the only thing they questioned was if a student could come in the room and I said no. My oxytocin playlist helped, plus Dom was being AMAZING and feeding me jelly babies in the pool. Even when I was waddling with contractions to the hospital I stopped to feel the sun on my face and feel the wind, I was doing everything to get it flowing!! We had golden hour and lots of skin to skin, delayed cord clamping and got some colostrum out straight away!
I’m so happy we came to you and did the course early on as we had plenty of time to practice and so it came naturally when I needed it. Everyone I spoke to said rip up the birth plan it never goes as expected, but it made such a difference knowing our options and what was best for baby and us.
